PLG Hartbeespoort Academy: Afrikaans Redenaars

We have recently had our Afrikaanse Redenaars Gala Evening and we are very proud of the top class speakers who were cultivated here at PLG Hartbeespoort Acedemy.  It is compulsory for all grade 4-9 learners to take part in the trials which happens in the classrooms.  Then only the top speakers are invited to take part in the Gala Evening.  Afrikaans speaking as well as English speaking learners take part and we wish to congratulate the following receivers of Silver and Gold certificates:

PLG Hartbeespoort Academy has talent

Eloïse Shelley received an invitation to compete in the IMTA convention in New York City later this year.  She was recognised as one of the top scorers in the SA talent search after a phenomenal acting performance.  The International Modeling and Talent Agency Convention that will take place in July 2016 is the most prestigious showcase in the world for aspiring artists.

We are very proud to wish her all the best in this persuit.

PLG Hartbeespoort Academy's athletes perform

Here are the athletes who were chosen for the 1st APO round of athletics. 

Front row: Imke Krige (2nd place for hurdles u’11), Cara Bosman (4th place for 75m hurdles u’13), Cayla Parsons (3rd place in high jump u’11).  Back row: Markus de Beer (4th place in long jump u’10) and Kievan van Eijk (3rd place high jump u’12)

Imke went through to the Provincials where she achieved a 3rd place.

PLG Hartbeespoort Academy: Science Olympiad feedback

Science Olympiads are used to promote science and excellence internationally.  Learners from PLG Harbeespoort Academy wrote SAASTA’s Natural Science Olympiad for grade 4-6 in 2015. 

The following learners received certificates for achievement and participation, fltr:  Cara Bosman, Cameron Leibenguth, James Cox, Stefan van der Colff, Eloise Shelley. They all received an above average score, with James Cox being in the top 10% of those above average achievers.


PLG Hartbeespoort Academy registers as an Eco School

PLG Hartbeespoort Academy registered as an Eco School. Eco-Schools operates in over 59 countries worldwide. It is an international programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), anaged locally by the Wildlife and Environmental Society of South Africa (WESSA), with financial support from Nampak and PetroSA. Eco-Schools is about improving environmental management at the school, as well as environmental learning. This means that groups consisting of teachers, learners, community members and/or partner organisations get together and undertake a project to improve some aspect of environmental management at their school.

The theme for 2016 is Healthy Living.

Eco School field trip to Jasmyn Dairy Farm took place this week, there were 54 learners and parents who attended. They learned more about cows and dairy farming to tie in with this year's theme of "Healthy Living".
